Retinoblastoma-Fresh Tumor Specimen
- Use 25 gauge 5/8 inch needle on 5cc syringe.
- Pull back with some force, don't put air in the eye
- Look for some tissue, if vitreous comes, eye may flatten
- Can fill the eye with some saline and 30g if it flattens
- Remove tenons over injection site to prevent trapping cells
- Wash eye with saline after pulling out tissue
- Ensure the tumor cells are in transport media- small white floaters
- Place on Path specimen report that eye was punctured for cell culture

- Lab3621 Miscellaneous Test (use for family members, known mutation) – free text in the comment section “whole blood to be shipped to Impact Genetics, Toronto, Canada for known familial mutation”.
- Access the forms online at www.impactgenetics.com . Print the Testing Requisition, Consent and the Sample Instructions.
- Alert UIHC Mailouts 6-8593 (located on the lower level of PFP) that there will be a sample.
