Furosemide for Pediatric Patients

Dosing for IIH

  • 0.4-0.6 mg/kg/day divided BID

Monitoring

  • Measure at Baseline
    • Serum BUN, Creatinine, CO2, Sodium, Potassium
    • CBC, Platelets
    • Liver function tests
      • alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), serum bilirubin, prothrombin time (PT), the international normalized ratio (INR), total protein and albumin.
  • If diabetic measure blood/urine glucose
  • Renal Ultrasound if suspected obstructive hydronephrosis
